Another child goes missing in Florida.
A Florida MISSING CHILD Alert has been issued for Shannon Lea Dedrick, a white female, 7 months old, 2 feet tall, 11 pounds, brown hair, and blue eyes. She was last seen at her residence in Chipley on 10/31/09.
According to Sheriff Bobby Haddock, his department is following up every lead in their search for the child that has been missing since around noon on Saturday.
In a press conference Sunday Washington County Sheriff Bobby Haddock that nothing at the present makes them think the baby was abducted, but added that the infant "didn’t crawl or walk away."
Haddock said the call reporting the missing child was received by his department around 11:50 a.m. Oct. 31st and the FDLE, along with Search & Rescue from Jackson, Liberty, Bay and Calhoun counties have been at the scene. The Sheriff said the child was in the home of her parents when she went missing.

IDK...something fishy is going on here, I'm sure most of us here are thinking the same thing. The likelihood of someone kidnapping a 7-month old baby from the home is almost nil IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if there's no evidence of a break-in or stranger lurking in this small town. I need to pray and hope for the best for Baby Shannon. God bless her.

Oh Lord! I also do not see this having a good outcome based solely on the sheriff's comment. If this little one is no longer with us, I hope and pray at least she is found soon!
I'll save the rest of my ranting and raving until we hear more news.

Neighbors who live near the Dedrick residence at 793C Brown Street in Chipley, say the private drive to the mobile home is rarely traveled. Anyone coming in or out would have been noticed.
Shannon is described as a white female weighing 11 pounds and measuring 24 inches long. She was reported missing by her parents at 11:23 a.m. Saturday. Shannon is believed to have gone missing between 3 and 11 a.m. from the Dedrick home.
Gone missing between 3 and 11 a.m?

Don't want to get "ahead" of myself in the through process (not good BTW,) but I'm praying this isn't yet another case where a tiny helpless gift from God is thrown out like common household trash.

Of course we're dealing with ME here, who can't find anything because I'm too computer illiterate....
If anyone stumbles upon updates, can you post them please?

CHIPLEY, Fla. — Search teams looking for a missing 7-month-old girl scoured dense vines and marshes for a second day Monday.
Authorities said Shannon Lea Dedrick was last seen when her parents went to bed about 3 a.m. Saturday.
They believe she disappeared from her home in this remote, makeshift community of dirt roads, tin-roof shacks and old mobile homes sometime before 8 a.m. Saturday. Her parents reported her missing around 11 a.m.
"We have searched every dumpster in the city limits of Chipley, we have turned over every garbage can," Washington County Sheriff Bobby Haddock said late Monday.
But Haddock said search teams were focused on the densely wooded area surrounding the enclave about 45 miles north of Panama City where the girl and her family live.
The sheriff's office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement would not identify the girl's parents, saying only that the couple is talking to investigators. They also would not discuss why the girl wasn't reported missing until so late in the morning Sunday.
The sheriff said he is not concerned about the safety of anyone else in the community and authorities have identified a "person of interest," in the infant's disappearance.
"The child cannot walk or crawl, it did not leave the residence by itself," he said.
About 75 search and rescue workers from three counties have scoured a 1/2-mile radius.
Shannon is described as 2 feet tall and 11 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Neighbors in the ramshackle neighborhood of clotheslines and "Beware of Dog" and "No Trespassing" signs said they rarely spoke to or saw the parents of the missing infant.
"They had only lived here about two months. I only know that this is a wonderful neighborhood and I've always felt safe here," said Donna Davis, who lives two homes down.
Susan Martinez lives across the street and said neighbors mostly keep to themselves.
"I just know there's a baby missing and I hope they find it," she said.
This isn't telling us much more than we already suspect. Lord, searching dense vines, marshes, and dumpsters is grim to say the least!

Now I need to go see what our local news is saying about this, but I suspect it won't be much more than the above.

When is the media going to realize that these stories are much more important and hold more value than the local deer population!!!!

JackieB,
I know you're upset about the lack of news coverage. I feel the same. I wondered if it was mentioned that Baby Shannon was ill or was needing medication. This is so terrible. God bless the innocent baby.
Please keep us posted.

Still can't find anything on the "person of interest." If someone else is successful, can you please post it here?

11 lbs she could have been premature at birth you never know.
or sickly she looks very almost skeleton like in that picture to me.
My sons (born by c-section before I could go into labor, but after their lungs were developed) were 6.7 and 6.3. By three months of age they were around 13 lbs. If this little one only weighed 11 lbs at 6-7 months, she had to have been premature or malnurished. Just such a little tiny itty bitty. Bless her precious little heart.

NG said on her show last night that all babies had large heads. This is absolutely incorrect, the child's head will be extremely large her whole life, disproportionate to her body sometimes leading to other health problems.
This is a beautiful child, jmo, the parent's story is very suspicious. I agree with everyone's comments, it is a shame that this child isn't getting more coverage. jmo, I wish they had drug tested the parents.

Little Mikey was always in the hospital getting his shunt drained or follow ups to prevent infections. Just lots and lots of medical care especially as an infant.
If this baby is also hydrocephalic, it seems she wasn't followed up on very well. There's no way 7lbs is acceptable to any pediatrian for a 7 month old baby. I see neglect here. Maybe this is the reason Shannon has "disappeared". If you get my drift..

This precious child is "hydrocephalus," meaning she has a large head, she produces fluid which normally is drained. If someone sees her, she should be easily recognized. I pray she is found.
Art, did you read that somewhere?

my daughter and son weighed three at birth 9 at two half months but I do know some children don't thrive .

Considering how tiny this baby is, and the fact that she wasn't checked on for over 7 hrs makes me think she wasn't fed properly. A baby this tiny needs to be fed at least every 4 hours. I think we're going to find out more about this if she's found. It disturbs me to think she was starved.

I'm a mother to a four month old baby. I go to sleep around 10-11pm nightly. Carleigh (my daughter) always falls asleep in her daddy's arms around 9:30pm. That's usually around her final feeding. She will then sleep until 6:30am-7am. Some times as late as 8am. One of us always goes in to check on her through out the night. If it's been awfully quiet, I get nervous and check on her. When she fusses just a tiny bit, I check on her.
Not checking on your child between 3am and 11:30am is very suspicious. My daughter has never slept until 11:30am. She might take a nap around that time, but she's never slept straight to lunch time.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I understand, the parents went to bed at 3am. So what time did baby Shannon go to sleep? If she went to sleep sooner, maybe around 8pm let's say... there is no way she slept from 8pm to 11:30am.
I don't trust these parents.
