A case gone cold right before our eyes...

Just 3 months ago, our nation was gripped with the case of this little second grade girl who vanished from the seemingly safe streets of Orange Park, FL. How could a little girl who walked home in a group just disappear??

But that's exactly what happened, and we are no closer today to having any answers than we were in the hours and days after her disapperance. We watched horrified as her mother angrily pleaded with the perps thru press conferences and secretly imagined what we would do in a similar situation, though not at all envious of Diena Thompson's situation. Her raw emotions gripped us as parents - so different from watching the Anthony's... we KNEW she was devastated. And I'm sure that in 3 months of virtually NO leads, NO answers, she is still that grieving parent pleading with LE and the public to help her in seeking justice for Somer.

We know in part what happened to Somer, just 3 days after she disappeared, she was found in a landfill - thrown out with the trash. LE did an excellent job in finding her so quickly, and I hope that their process sets a precedent for all missing children cases going forward. They are to be applauded for acting so quickly, thus preserving crucial evidence - yet, there is still no arrest, not even a person of interest or suspect named - what gives?

Are we watching the case grow cold before our very eyes? What, if anything, can we do to stop this from becoming cold?

An Amber Alert has been issued for sisters Isabel Martinez and Kaydence Gonzalez, both taken by their mother, whose parental rights have been terminated. The toddlers were taken from their babysitter's house Monday, in the north Houston area at approx. 3:30 p.m.

Kaydence (or Caydence, I've found it spelled both ways...) is 2, has curly brown hair, brown eyes and weighs 25 lbs, 2 ft tall. She was last seen wearing a pink striped shirt and blue jeans.

Her sister, Isabel, has brown hair and brown eyes, weighs 35 lbs and is 3 ft tall. She was last seen wearing a brown sweatshirt with a princess crown on it and blue jeans.

The "momster", Mecinna Dufore, 28 is 5' 5" tall, weighs about 150 lbs, and has brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a history of drug abuse and suicidal tendencies.

Casey Anthony "cries"

“I just want to let everyone know that I’m sorry for what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions.”

Yeah, you read that right... straight from the horse's mouth... we shall see..

As you are all aware, Casey has been in court this week - for the check fraud trial . This video shows Casey "breaking down" after laughing with her lawyers at the beginning. She never did shed a tear over Caylee, but somehow manages to squeeze a few out for the viewing public (and possible jurors) when she is sentenced.

http://www.myfoxorlando.com/dpp/news/anthony_case/012510-anthony-plea-deal?a

Casey Anthony was in court for 13 charges of check fraud, she pleaded guilty to six counts and adjudication was held on the remaining seven charges. Casey was sentenced to 412 days time served. Should Casey be free from murder charges, she would be under one year of supervised probation.

Here's the real kicker to me: As for the first-degree murder charges that Casey faces, she contends her innocence. The murder trial was scheduled to begin in June 2010, but due to a change of venue motion it is possible that the trial may be delayed as long as five years.

5 yrs??? seriously??? Caylee would be nearing the second grade by that time - and barely a distant memory for her mother.

Amber alert issued for girl whose mother was found dead

Aja is perceived to be in extreme danger after her 37 yr old mother, Tonya Hobbs was found murdered inside an RV where they lived. The suspect in both the slaying of Tonya, and the kidnapping of Aja is the man pictured above, 46 yr old Lester Hobbs, married to Tonya (albeit, they were reportedly separated) but not the biological father of Aja.

Aja is 65 lbs, 4 ft tall with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen Sat, Jan 23rd at her Geronimo, OK home. She was believed to have been taken before 9:00 p.m. on Sunday evening when her mother's body was found.

Lester Hobbs is driving a white 1992 Toyota Pasea with OK license plate 557-BPW. The back window of the car has been replaced with sheet metal  - so that should stick out to you should you see the vehicle. Hobbs is believed to be extremely dangerous, and has been convicted of assault with a deadly weapon back in 2003.

If you have any information please call the Comanche County Sheriff's Office at 580-353-4280

Morgan Harrington Possibly Found - Deceased

Posted by tish in missing found deceased

Early this morning, a farmer working on his tractor saw the remains of a young woman from afar off - he got down to inspect, and according to his own words, he immediately thought of Morgan, and called the police.

As you'll recall, Morgan mysteriously disappeared at a Metallica concert in Oct, 2009 - which she had planned to attend for months. She never got to see the performance - she slipped out of her seat just before they took the stage, and her friends never saw her again. What happened next, we may never know, but today, the family descends on a pasture out in the middle of no where, grieving the loss of their only, and most beloved daughter.

Police have a press conference scheduled for 5:00 EST (which should just be starting as I write) during which they will reveal more details hopefully, and possibly make a clear identification of the remains being Morgan. To Morgan's family, we stand behind you in seeking justice for her killer - and our thoughts and prayers are with you on this most difficult of days.
