A case gone cold right before our eyes...Posted by tish in Somer Thompson |
Just 3 months ago, our nation was gripped with the case of this little second grade girl who vanished from the seemingly safe streets of Orange Park, FL. How could a little girl who walked home in a group just disappear??
But that's exactly what happened, and we are no closer today to having any answers than we were in the hours and days after her disapperance. We watched horrified as her mother angrily pleaded with the perps thru press conferences and secretly imagined what we would do in a similar situation, though not at all envious of Diena Thompson's situation. Her raw emotions gripped us as parents - so different from watching the Anthony's... we KNEW she was devastated. And I'm sure that in 3 months of virtually NO leads, NO answers, she is still that grieving parent pleading with LE and the public to help her in seeking justice for Somer.
We know in part what happened to Somer, just 3 days after she disappeared, she was found in a landfill - thrown out with the trash. LE did an excellent job in finding her so quickly, and I hope that their process sets a precedent for all missing children cases going forward. They are to be applauded for acting so quickly, thus preserving crucial evidence - yet, there is still no arrest, not even a person of interest or suspect named - what gives?
Are we watching the case grow cold before our very eyes? What, if anything, can we do to stop this from becoming cold?
